I was looking at the different families that I have worked on and I couldn't believe that I had never done a Look-up. I communicated with a Bowlin sometime ago and I guess that's why I thought I had done them. I have heard the Bowlin name mentioned many times by my family and still do. There are still a few around Iberia. I think they first settled in what is Monteau County. Old Benjamin Bowlin thought he'd help us build a County and they've been here ever since. Benjamin was in his thirtys when he was here for the 1840 census. His wife, 3 boys and 2 girls were with him. There would be at least 3 more to come. The known children are Newton, Martha, Delaney, John, Harriet, Elizabeth, Andrew and Benjamin. When looking for Bowlin information in the old records, Look for Bolin, Bowlin, Bowen and Bolen. 1850 census: Miller County. James Bowlin age 54 (Va) Sarah age 54 (N.C.) Vann, 1/1/1881) Licurgus M. age 18 (to Elizabeth Livingston, 8/12/1883) Felix age 16 Lunitha age 13 John M. age 8 (married Victoria Crisp, 6/2/1899) Robert (Edward) age 6 Margaret (Della) age 4 Mary Eliza age 11 months (John and Mary's girl) (all but Mary Eliza were Margaret & John's children, I think they had a girl named Stella too.) Stella Bowlin married Oliver Bentley, 9/7/1897. John & Mary Vaughan had 5 children in all: Mary, Lora, Myrtle, Eliza and Don. Don Bowlin married Martha Jobe, 4/10/1904. Don lived on part of the homeplace and raised 6 children: Rosa, Lenvil, Lundy, Joseph,Ivan and Oliver. That would have to be about 100 yrs. of Bowlins on one place. There may still be Bowlins there!!! I'd say they were residents of Miller County. As I have said before, I am not making a family tree. I'm just giving you as much information as I can to help those who are. If all the Bowlins are as nice as the one's I've met on this LIST, and my people say they are, it's been a pleasure. MISC.
