According to Dr. King's History Of Maries County, Thomas Feeler was the first Feeler to settle in Maries County. His wife was Mary Emeline Hartley. They came here from Indiana. He led his brother Simon to live here also. Thomas children were: Archibald, Cornelius(single), Emily (Thomas), Jane (Pickering), Jackson and Calvin. Simon Feeler was first married to Doborah Daley in Indiana. Simon Feeler to Mary E. Sundermeyer(Branson), 6/19/1870. The Feelers have been a big part of Maries County since it's origin and still are. There has been a school named after them. They took part in their community, one was a Justice of the Peace, etc. I counted 26 different households in the area from the phone book. If I were a Feeler, I believe I would come visiting. DeVere |
