The Gartin family is a older family in Miller County. I noticed this name tied in with my West ancesters back in South Carolina. Whether they are the same ones I have no idea.

Hugh Gartin was here in the 1840 census in a family of four. He was getting up in years then. We find him in the 1850 census.

Hugh & Rachel are buried at Spring Garden Cemetery. Most of their children are buried at Pleasant Mount, AF & AM Cemetery (Masonic)

Elly Garten/Gartin married Charles G. Stephens, 1/21/1849.

Obit: Martha Gartin nee Stephens, was born 7/3/1831. She married James M. Gartin on Jan. 21, 1849. She died Nov. 20, 1909 and was buried at Mt.

Obit: John W. Gartin was born 6/3/1850 and died 12/25/1930. He married Martha J. Etter, April 3. 1873.
Children are James, S. D.,and Ira. Buried at Mt. Pleasant.
