The Goforth's that I knew personally were old-time printers. When I was a child growing up in Rolla, a Goforth family were our neighbors. His son, Don, was one of my playmates. I believe the Goforth who was head of the family was Ross, or maybe Ralph. He worked for the same newspaper in Rolla where many years later, I served my apprenticeship. The Goforth's moved back to Dixon where he went to work for the Dixon Pilot. Goforth married Martha J. Eads, 8/10/1883. William & Martha had five children: Gertie, Preston, Frank, Hattie & Erie. Gertie & Erie died in infancy, Hattie married Marion Eddington, Preston married Olive Whitehorn.
