The Hawk family are a mystery to me. In the 1840 census, there was a George Hawk and his wife living here. They were young and apparently had no children at this time. I believe this marriage record is this George Hawk. George Hawk married Clarinda Boyd, 8/9/1839. Miller County had only been a county 2 years. 1860 census: (Osage Twp) Clarinda Hawk (Boyd) age 36 (Ky) (George's wife) Mary R. age 16 (Mo) John R. age 9 (Mo) George age 5 (Mo) 1870 census: (Osage Twp) John R. Hawk age 20 (Mo) Adalade age 20 (Mo) (married Thomas Calbert, 4/19/1876.) Irene Hamilton age 20 (Mo) 1880 census: (Osage Twp) George W. Hawk married Amanda Johnson, 5/21/1876. George Hawk age 24 (Mo) Amanda age 25 (Mo) James age 3 (Mo) Laura age 1 (Mo) married William E. Wickham, 3/31/1898. Something has happened, epidemic or something, because the Hawk children show up living with other families. I am going to assume that these are George & Clarinda's children, since they were the only Hawk family here in this time period. 1860 census: (Osage Twp) Martha Barnhart age 54 (Tn) John L. age 22 (Mo) Martha age 24 (Mo) Mary E. age 12 (Mo) Adam Shirley age 80 (Tn) WILLIAM HAWK age 24 (Ind)----------- (Clarinda would have been 12-13 to have this one, and they showed no children in 1840 census). 1860 census: (Osage Twp) ROBERT HAWK age 16 (Mo)------------------ Living with Abraham & Elizabeth Brasier. 1870 census: (Osage Twp) Robert Hawk age 25 (Mo) Eliza age 21 (Ind) George age 2 (Mo) William age 6 months 1870 census: (Osage Twp) James D. Hawk age 29 (Mo) Lavina age 24 (Mo) Mary E. age 12 (Mo) Robert age 11 (Iowa) Benjamin Kinsworthy age 19 (Mo) (living next door) Mary Hawk married John Gosvenor, 10/8/1865. 1870 census: (Osage Twp) John Gosvenor age 25 (Ind) Mary R. age 25 (Mo) Marcella age 3 (Mo) Caroline age 1 (Mo) GEORGE W. HAWK age 15---------------------- 1860 census: (Osage Twp) Mary A.
