John J. Jarrett is probably our main man. He was another Brays Mill settler. In Judge Jenkin's "History of Miller County", John was hung by robbers. Another Brays Mill area man named Calvin Grady cut John down in time but John was never able to speak above a whisper. Calvin Grady married my relation, Mary/Polly West. Peggy Smith Hake has a chapter in her book "Pioneer Families of Miller County", about the Jarrett Family. This book is out of print, but if you are a Jarrett ancester, it's in almost every Genealogy Library in Missouri. The Jarrett Cemetery is located on John J. Jarrett's original property over looking the Big Tavern Creek. It is one of the prettiest location for a cemetery I have ever seen. John J. Jarrett was here in the 1850 census: John J.
