George Snodgrass Senior were the first Snodgrass family to settle in Maries County. They had six children: James, Arch, Polly, Matilda, Sarah and George "Wash" Snodgrass. Geoge's wife was a Johnson. 1. James married a woman named Tennison. They had two children but the parents and 1 child died early. The other child Benjamin was raised by his uncle "Wash". Benjamin moved to ILLinois. 2. Arch Snodgass married Nancy McGee. Them and thier two children, Mary Jane & George, died long before the Civil War. 3. Polly married Thomas West. They had three children: William married Lucinda Elrod, James married Harriet Slater, Thomas married a Haislip. 4. Matilda married Charles Lane. They had two children, Catherine married James Parker. The other died in Infancy. 5. Sarah married four times. A. William Davidson (had daughter Mary who married William Myers). B. William Malone (two children, James & Hannah). C. Gabriel Myers(one child survived, C. C. Myers) D. Zachariah German (one son Lonzo) 6. George Washington Snodgrass married Julia Ann Daniels. They had nine children: James David, Ebenezer J., Archibald, Simon, George Jr., Sarah A., Julia A., William R., and Maria E. MARRIAGE RECORDS: James D. Snodgrass married Olivia Ferrell, 8/16/1874. James later married Elizabeth Davis, 9/1/1878. Benjamin Snodgrass married Rosanna Finn, 7/30/1874. Archibald Snodgrass to Martha C. Davis, 10/1/1885. Archibald later married Harriet Vanderpool. James Snodgrass to Mary Riley, 8/1/1886. Simon Snodgrass to Edna Carney, 12/2/1886. Eight children: Sallie, Maud, Della, Dollie, William, George W., Robert and Cecil. Maria Elizabeth Snodgrass to John Ballance, 2/13/1876. N. A. Snodgrass married Louis N. Knight, 10/18/1878. Sarah Ann Snodgrass to Charles S. Goggin, 4/3/1881. Eight Children: Bessie, Claudia, Maud, Robert, Leo, Alexious, Sextus, and Sallie. Julia A.
