The Williams were here strong in the 1840 census. H. M. Williams in a family of 3 (1840 census) John Williams in a family of 5 (1840 census) Sarah Williams in a family of 4 (1840 census) Squire Williams in a family of 6 (1840 census) William Williams in a family of 4 (1840 census) I believe the Williams that settled in Miller County were primarily from North Carolina to Virginia, then branched out into Kentucky and Tennessee. I believe they stayed one generation in these two states but a few came here early and as a result the others started showing up I will try to keep the ones from Tennessee and the ones from Kentucky separate. The repetition of childrens names may give us a clue to whether they are related. He was the son of John Williams and Susannah Blackwell. The older John was born in 1773 in (N.C), died in (Ky) about 1855. His wife Susannah was born in 1775 (Va), died in (Ky) about 1851.
